Today is a day that I will stop what I am doing and think of those who died in the tragedy of the September 11 Attacks 5 years ago. Close to 3,000 people died in these senseless attacks. From the twin towers was estimated at 2,749, including the 87 passengers aboard American Airlines Flight 11 and the 60 on United Airlines Flight 175. Also, 60 police officers and 343 firefighters who responded to the scenes died as well trying to help others escape. And, more senseless death were also added that day when in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, 40 people were killed when a jet crashed into the ground, and at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, 184 more died.

The American Heritage Dictionary defines tragedy as :

A disastrous event, especially one involving distressing loss or injury to life
