SCSI question from a friend

• Friends,
  I stumbled on this DLT drive. For only 30 bucks,
  Used of course, but what can go wrong ?
  It was build in sept.2000 as a build- in unit.

  Great for back ups.

  Now I needed a SCSI card.
  So, as my luck seemed to hold I bought this one for only 50 bucks ! (Used)

  Now, what I want to know is this :
  What’s the difference between IDE and SCSI ?
  And please tell me all you know about the DLT and your opinions on the SCSI card.
  Please explain in laymen terms. Please, do not refer me to Google. I still won’t understand. Yet.
