In high school, when I looked over at a friend of mine, and saw that he was reading a book called Welcome to the Monkey House, I just had to ask! With a book that had a title like that, I was seriously curious. This friend was always into science fiction. I had no idea what kind of sci-fi book would have a title like that!
Before I got a chance to ask him, a few days later I saw him reading another book titled: God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater. I noticed this book was by the same author as the other one was. Now, I was even more curious.
Curiosity got the better of me (If you have not noticed by now, it usually does!). So, I stopped him in the hallway and asked him what in the world he was reading. Instead of giving me a long detailed description fit for a book report, he pulled his backpack off of his shoulder and reached in it.
Handing me the book I had seen him read a few days before, he simply spoke 2 simple words to me and walked off.
"Read it"
…. and I did.
And, ten books later, I still wanted to read more from Kurt Vonnegut!
