Orson Scott Card

One thing that I will not hesitate to do when I am bored: Pick up anything I can and read it. Sometimes it pays off.

One thing that has always caught my attention is Sci-Fi. From Isaac Asimov to the Sci-Fi channel, it can always capture my attention. Ever notice how birds of a feather really DO flock together? For some strange coincidence, it seems like a majority of my friends all seem to like/read/watch sci-fi too.

So.. as boredom would have it, I was over at a friends (who later became my husband) and I was bored. So… I picked up a book on the nightstand. Ender’s Game. I wasn’t sure if this was fantasy or sci-fi. The back of the book was captivating. At that moment, I had nothing else to do.. so I started thumbing through a few pages.

One thing lead to another. The book did not get put down until I was finished. After reading about Ender, I wanted to read more.

The next day, I was at the bookstore purchasing the next book in the series. I went through as many books by Orson Scott Card in the Ender Series as there were. By the time I made it through all of the books that were out, Shadow of the Hegemon was to be released in a week.

The next weekend, I went to visit my friend in Austin, Texas. We went to the mall, went to the bookstore, and wandered through almost in a race to see who would be the first to find the book, purchase it and read it. Orson Scott Card’s books can be soooo addictive!
