Southern Sweet Tea
3 Family Size Lipton Tea Bags
10 Cups of Water
1 1/3 cup of sugar

Adding the 3 tea bags and water, I use a coffee pot to let it ‘brew’ then I turn the warmer off, and let the tea sit for an hour in the coffee pot.
Next, pour the tea in a 4L (1 G) Pitcher, add sugar, fill the rest with water, stir and then I let it sit on the counter a couple of hours. If it is put in a fridge too quick, it turns bitter tasting.

I made the tea, as outlined, but found it too sweet, so I swapped the sugar for canderel and it was simply delicious – and not full of calories! Thanks for this recipe.
Thanks for the recipe !
I like my tea a little sweeter, so usually a) use brown sugar or syrup, and b) use 2 cup fulls.
I use almost the same receipt the difference is that I let it sit with 2 slices of lime or lemon in it
thanks for sharing …I like tea specially in this summer session…I gonna try make this one..

Now why would you drink tea cold thats just crazy, if you want a cold drink you have cola, juice etc however if you want to relax and chill a proper cup of english tea is what you need.
I don’t know you lot!!
Growing up in GA and working in food service I made the tea so often. I judt don’t care to drink it. When we would make it we never put it in the fridge. Just pour it over ice before you serve it. We would go through it so fast too that there was never a reason to put it in the fridge.
Thanks for the recipe. I love the tea at Mcdonalds but I hate the food. I can now make my own sweet tea and not have to deal with the drive thru.

I love home McDonald’s sweet tea! I am so thankful that you shared that recipe so now we I can have the tea anytime. I will make sure I leave it to sit at room temperature for a few hours before I put it in the refridgerator
Nice tip, i never knew you should leave tea out a few hours before refrigerating. thanks.
I live in Canada and I always forget when I visit the States that you guys use real tea to make iced tea. We are all about the crystals here and it tastes ALOT different. A bit of getting used to.
