As Aleeya.net makes the Move from WordPress 1.5 to 2.0, one of the best plugins I have found to help Search Engines, SEO and my site is Dagon Design Sitemap Generator by Aleister. I run this along with Google Sitemaps generator. I link to the Dagon Design Sitemap on my pages in the Sitemap link of the navigation so the search engines will crawl the link of my Sitemap (Google as well as others).
Also, I use Dagon Design Sitemap Generator as a 404 page so when people come to the site if there is an outdated link, they can view all the pages on the site instead of just a page saying its not found. This increases the chance someone will see something else they like as well as a search engine crawling links.
This plugin is easy to install and very easy to customize. This is an excellent plugin to add to any list of SEO’ing. The benefits are tremendous when it comes to internal linking, helping make a site user friendly, and giving a bonus for search engines to crawl. Standalone or along with Google Sitemaps generator, this is a must have for any WordPress users! Kudos to Aleister!
Hey.. im trying to use this plugin too, but im having some problem, i wonder if you may know it…. Why am i always getting this message “sitemap 404 error”, FYI, I installed other sitemap plugin, but then I didn’t like and it didnt work out. So I am using DDsitemapGen.
In my website, the sitemap page looks fine, but 1 oe 2 seconds, the page refreshed it self and turn to “sitemap 404 error”.

Hi durianboy, it sounds like the permissions are not set correctly for it to generate a sitemap.xml and sitemap.xml.zip
If you do not have those files, make them in your theme folder where all the other pages and content are and set them to permissions with 776

Well i totally agree with you here. Sitemap is a must. Specially when u can generate and automatic sitemap with wordpress plugins you have more chance of getting your pages indexed
